Happy Thanksgiving

Its been a challenging year for me this year just as it has been for many of you, but today I celebrate all the things I am thankful for and this space cant begin to cover them. I hope you are feeling the same way.
Thanks for sticking with me and following my blog. I hope you are having a great day. The bears are sitting back relaxing smelling the turkey roadting in the oven. They are wondering what dessert will be. Dont tell them but its a peach cobbler! They would be all over it!

Happy Thanksgiving All

Happy Father's Day 2010

I hope it is a good Father's day for all. My dad died years ago and for some reason today I realized I had never heard my father sing. There are still things I will never know that made my dad who he was. You're still on my mind Daddy, Happy Father's Day.

Christmas Tea Party for the Toys

A Christmas Story... You Are Invited

You're Invited! You're invited! If you want to come you have to follow the path.

Is that a note for me? Did that snowman put that invitation in there?

Where is he going? Do I want to go too? It said follow the path.

I'll follow the path and the snowman. They're going in the se direction.

Glad he's wearing a red scarf, I could lose him in this snow. Snowmen don't have a scent for a polar bear to smell. They smell just like the snow on the ground. Wait a minute, where did he go?!

What's that up ahead? Wow a snowman tea party! Cookies and tea and my friend Penguin!

Snow tea,my very favorite!

Merry Christmas Everyone and enjoy your holidays!

Auction Piece for Teddy Reunion in the Heartland

Well, this is what has been keeping me busy. This is my auction piece for Teddy Reunion in the Heartland 2010 to be held in Clarion, Iowa in June 2010.

This is Remember Me... I Remember You.

It's a Sailor Angel watching over a loved one as she feeds the birds.

There's a close up of each. He wears a National Defense medal.

She wears a replica of an apron from the thirties or forties.

His uniform represents a soldier who has not yet achieved rank in honor of all the young men who have been lost in war. He represents our young women too. I chose a sailor in honor of my husband who served his country for 23 years. He looked so handsome in his white uniform, and he loved wearing this one best even over his chief uniform though he loved being a chief.

We haven't forgot the loved ones we lost... we remember.

This show is only held once every five years and I am happy to be attending again. The whole town welcomes you with open hearts and even homes. They put the artist and collectors up in their homes.

The town feeds you and the artists get to ride in the parade, how cool is that! All the auction pieces will be on their website soon. I'll post that info at a later date.

I better start thinking what my spectacular piece will be for the show. Ahh, back to work. Now, do I remember what sleep was like?!

Independence,Freedom and Dreams

Many years ago, a group of men got together and decided what being independent meant. It involved the right to make choices on your own behalf as long as it didn't interfere with the right of others to make those same choices.
Freedom to live in peace, freedom just to live, and many fought and died for that freedom.
We dream that our lives will matter, that our families will not only survive but succeed and flourish. And today , for many of us, that brings us back to some very basic things.
So today let's include some very basic things for all of us:
You have the right to be treated with respect, and the duty to treat others the same.
You have the right to achieve great things but not the entitlement to be treated greatly just because you are you.
You have the right to disagree but not to be insufferably disagreeable.
We all have the right to take the time to be more mannerly towards each other, kinder and to insure we don't trample on anothers rights while trying to claim our own.
America dreams that each of us will be accepted with our differences because beneath them we are very much alike. We want to be fed, clothed, have a place to rest our heads, a place to work, a place to educate our children, health care we can afford and to be cared for by someone in our lives.
Let's start with these new rights. Happy fourth every body. Here let me hold that door for you. My pleasure.

Remember - Memorial Day 2009

My husband served his country for 23 years in the the US Navy.He retired a chief, having declined being an officer to work with the men, though he helped others become officers. There are so many that have served that have never heard the word thank you.
Thank you. I thank my husband who served with dignity, pride and determination. I thank all the men and women who gave their time, their choices, their limbs, their minds, their lives with all my heart.
I thank their families, their friends and all those that love our military members and will miss them this day and I will pray for them and us all, for peace in our lives and in our hearts.

Remember.

Easter Greetings

Easter has always been a freshness for me. Tulips blooming and daylilies bright with color. There were crinoline slips, itchy and wide that made little girls dresses stand out , worn with white socks, white gloves and black patent leather shoes. White straw hats topped freshly pressed hair done up in 'Shirley Temple' curls.
There was the curled up palm frond pinned to your bodice on Palm Sunday and the rehearsals for the Easter play. But underneath it all was the newness and even an eight year old girl knew that it had nothing to do with a new dress but everything to do with a new awakening, a new life, a new chance.
It's in the air, this opportunity to take a new chance, on life, on you.

Happy Easter to you and yours...begin again.
